We had Erik back after his European Team meeting in Sweden, and were feeling pretty pleased with ourselves after Rye House, but surely it would be too much to ask that we could gain revenge for Friday's defeat?
Well it seems nothing is too much to ask for this side, they simply go about their task in the most positive manner possible.
We were never more than two points behind, and when Robert Lambert misjudged a corner in heat 10 he created an opportunity which we seized with both hands.
Our opening pair followed their 30+3 at Rye with 29+4 here, quite amazing scoring. Craig Cook was just squeezed out on the opening lap of heat 1, behind Sedgmen and Lambert, but thereafter he never looked like losing. He beat Lambert easily in heat 4 then added three more 5-1s with Sedgmen plus a heat 13 victory.
Sedgy just goes from strength to strength. He was terrific in holding off Lambert in the opening race, and the only point he dropped all night was in heat 8 when he made a poor start and concentrated on helping Rob Branford to share the heat behind Grondal.
He rode great first bends all day and never made an error thereafter.
Kevin was a little bit more up and down, and lost a 5-1 in heat 6 on his rider replacement ride. He had led but was pushed aside by Lambert with Grondal also coming through. He avoided another 1-5 when Lambert came down, but other than these two heats he took three impressive wins.
Erik started with two lasts although he was making up ground by the end of both races. He took a lucky second in heat 11, and rounded Bowen for an important point in heat 13. Then he pulled out one of his best rides to lead Palm Toft all the way in heat 14, which meant we were 4 up going into the last race.
Max Clegg didn't have a good meeting, pointless, so he will work hard to do better on tracks like this. Rob Branford got involved in some of the heats and managed three points.
And so we returned to the top of the league!

After a tremendous result last night it might have seemed too much to hope that we could get much more than a point at Peterborough but we should have more faith in the Border Roofing Monarchs who came away with a 49-41 win, another four points and a table-topping position.

The Border Roofing Monarchs have moved the short distance up the road from Rye House to Peterborough ahead of this evening’s match at the East of England Showground.
