Ed the Monarch was excited to receive an Ed size race jacket from Stewart Melrose of Scotwaste at Press Day on Saturday and it wasn't long before he was wearing it with pride.

Scottish Speedway 2014 gets under way on Friday at Armadale Stadium as our two sides come together for the first of several contests – the Scotwaste Monarchs against the Glasgow Allied Vehicle Tigers.

In addition to the first night excitement at the Scotwaste Arena this Friday when the Glasgow Tigers are the visitors, I can tell you that a new Track Record will be set.

The 2014 Scotwaste Monarchs took to the track yesterday in conditions which were ideal for speedway, watched by a fair number of interested supporters looking forward to the season which begins for us next Friday.

The press launch of our 2014 season takes place today before the Scotwaste Monarchs take to the track for the press cameras.

Not the team though, but two of our riders are in action on Friday evening as the season begins to step up a gear with more and more teams opening their season.

The great day arrived at Armadale with the installation of our air fence. The strong wind blowing across the track made it is difficult as possible for the installation to proceed and, probably, added two hours to the time required but the job is now done.
