Once again the Staggs Bar Monarchs proved that they can never be written off with a brilliant display at Redcar in the Championship Fours, taking second place in the semis with 17 points from 8 outings and again second place in the final with 19 from 12 outings in the final. The winners, retaining their trophy, were Peterborough on 22.

Supporters heading to Redcar this afternoon for the 2018 Championship Fours will be seeing something unusual with 11 teams lining up to chase the Trophy.

We hoped after Friday's good performance that there would be no scares in the second leg of the KO Cup quarter final, and so it proved as we took control in the early stages at Shielfield and really were never in danger.

A great night's speedway at Armadale has given the Stagg's Bar Monarchs a fighting chance of reaching the Knockout Cup semi-finals – but there is still a lot of work to do.

The Staggs Bar Monarchs hit their stride tonight in no uncertain fashion and finished the first leg of the KO Cup quarter final tie against Berwick 24 points to the good, 57-33. Every team member contributed strongly and in a highly entertaining meeting, turned a tight 4-point lead after heat 8 into a substantial lead by the end.

The Staggs Bar Monarchs defeated the Berwick Bandits by 57-33 in the first leg of the Knock Out Cup Quarter Final tonight at Armadale Stadium. Ricky Well scored a paid maximum with Aaron Summers and David Howe top scoring for the Bandits with 7.

Everyone agrees that this weekend's Knockout Cup ties could go either way on aggregate, and it seems to be the classic Top-heavy team v Solid team. Time will tell if that's how it plays out.

On Friday 6th July Armadale Stadium will welcome the return of the Caledonian Riders' Championship in association with Linlithgow Tyres and Exhausts, and Bert Harkins.
