Our sympathies are with the Brady family and friends today on hearing the sad news that Alistair has passed away at the age of 73. We've known him since his own speedway career started in the late sixties with the Coatbridge Monarchs, and more recently as the regular mechanic for Matthew Wethers, who of course became a member of the Brady family.

It's a happy 28th birthday today (Friday) to the new Monarchs' signing Michele 'Paco' Castagna, looking forward to the next stage in his career at Armadale in 2022. We asked him the obvious question – is he happy to be coming to ride for the Monarchs?

The latest in the very long line of Australian riders who have been part of the Monarchs setup is Jacob Hook, not 20 until August but ready to grab this opportunity in a 2022 side which is around 57% Australian!

Every year seems like a big year for Josh Pickering because his career is on the rise, and that is certainly the case for 2022 during which he will be riding for riding for three clubs – his fifth season at Edinburgh, plus taking on the captaincy at King's Lynn where he is a new boy, and teaming up with Sam Masters at Rawicz in Poland.

Monarchs are very pleased to add 1994 to the seasons available for subscribers to the EMTV+ channel. This was the penultimate season at Powderhall Stadium, and quite a successful one for the club.
