After the disappointment of the weather intervening and causing Friday night's Armadale encounter to be postponed all eyes now turn to Cumbria as the Stellar Monarchs take on the Workington Comets in what is now the first leg of their MaxiCab KO Cup clash.

A fantastic opening night crowd was wonderful for all to see at the first meeting of the season a fortnight ago but it did raise some issues with car parking in the local area.

Nobody wants to fall at the first hurdle in the MAXicab Knock Out Cup, so when the Stellar Monarchs face up to Workington Comets this weekend (first leg at Armadale on Friday), both teams will have every incentive to be at their best and win the tie.

Stellar Monarchs Academy had to work hard against a solid and determined Middlesbrough team, but led all the way from heat 2 to the end to secure the points with a 48-42 win. They top the table as it is the first match to be run in the National Development League this season!

The Stellar Monarchs put in a dogged display to take victory 46-44 at Ashfield on Friday night albeit falling just short of securing the Scottish Cup on aggregate in a display that gives hope for the season ahead.

While the senior team faces a testing trip to Ashfield on Friday evening for the second leg of the Scottish Cup, The Monarchs Academy riders will be preparing to get their season under way with a home match at Armadale in the National Development League on Saturday at 7pm, racing against Middlesbrough Tigers.

A very big crowd packed the terraces to welcome the new speedway season at Armadale Stadium last Friday as Stellar Monarchs took on Glasgow Tigers.
