The Scotwaste Monarchs recorded their first home Premier Trophy victory by 52-40 in an enjoyable meeting against Redcar.

The score could well have been higher but for a few mishaps, but more importantly it was an enjoyable evening of speedway under blue skies.

With Rusty Harrison still out due to illness, rider replacement applied, and there were several fine performances on the home side.

Theo Pijper fought back from a bad first heat to top the scorechart, but maybe there was more talk on the terraces about Henrik Moller who but for two engine failures while leading may well have scored paid 16!

He showed a fine ability to nip ahead round the first corner, but also came from the back in one heat to clinch a 5-1. He stopped twice (broken fuel pipe and chain) but still impressed everyone with his efforts.

Visiting star was the smooth and classy Gary Havelock, while Kevin Little was involved in several good heats and scored two impressive wins.
