Edinburgh Monarchs
A solid performance by the Scotwaste Monarchs gave them a reasonably comfortable win over Newcastle.
Theo Pijper turned in probably his best ever Armadale performance, coming from the back in three of his five heats to score a 15-point maximum. There were thrills from William Lawson again, and a terrific display by Sean Stoddart who was recalled to the team.
Monarchs quickly established control and were eight points up by heat 4. Even with a six-point TR by Franc this rose to a 15-point advantage after heat 10.
Thereafter Newcastle whittled the gap down and Monarchs were virtually assured of a win when they went into the last heat 5 points up.
This win was a three-pointer as Monarchs had won at Newcastle, and the team can look forward with hope to the weekend's matches at Berwick and Glasgow.
