EIGHT POINT LOSS AT BROUGH

The Scotwaste Monarchs went down by 42-50 at Newcastle, in a match they had targeted as a victory chance in view of Diamonds' weakened team.

However the match was dominated by the top three home riders. Christian Henry scored a 5-ride paid maximum, George Stancl won his first five heats before suffering an engine failure, and Josef Franc also scored 15.

Newcastle were without James Grieves who was at a funeral, as well as Manu Hauzinger and Jamie Robertson (injured). Monarchs did manage to keep their replacements David McAllan and Chris Mills pretty quiet.

Theo Pijper scored two wins, one a double-point ride, but the only other race winner was Sean Stoddart, the only finisher in a ridiculous heat 2.

Rider replacement was used for Rusty Harrison.
