William Lawson had one of his best away meetings as we went down 38-52 at Berwick.

This was not as bad a score as some had predicted, but there were still some concerns over the individual performances.

Lawson (two wins, including heat 15) plus the two reserves were the star turns for Monarchs. Lawson rode the track as well as anyone on either side, really using the outside line to great effect.

On the other hand Daniele Tessari was miles off the pace, and Moller, Correy and Wethers were also disappointing.

Derek Sneddon had two heat wins though he ran out of steam a bit, while Andrew Tully gave a spirited display and with a different choice of line on the last bend would have won heat 14.
