Edinburgh Monarchs
After a great start to his Under-21 qualifier at King's Lynn, and direct qualification for the final heat, Andrew Tully fell during that vital last race and so will be meeting reserve for the British Under-21 Final.
Past experience suggests he will be required to travel rather than ride for Monarchs in their cup tie against Berwick on the night of the final at Lakeside (25th April).
He was a victim of the current fad for deciding qualifying positions on the additional heats rather than the 20 qualifying races.
In the latter Andrew piled up 14 points to finish joint top qualifier with Workington's 16 year old Joe Haines. They went direct to the final, joined by Charles Wright and Sean Stoddart after the semi-final between the next four scorers.
Haines won the final from Stoddart with Tully falling whilst battling with Wright.
The only rider to beat Andrew in the qualifiers was Sheffield's Sam Martin.
Meeting favourite, home rider Simon Lambert won his first heat but packed up while leading his second and was never the same thereafter.
William Lawson of course is seeded direct to the Lakeside meeting.
