Edinburgh Monarchs
There was no shortage of drama in a match which had a few twists and turns before the Scotwaste Monarchs completed a 56-34 victory over Reading in the first leg of the Premier Trophy semi-final.
After six heats, Monarchs led by just 4 points. Ulrich Ostergaard then suffered an engine failure in heat 7 and that proved to be something of a turning point.
Monarchs then slammed in 5 5-1's in the nest six heats to go 24 points ahead, and took a 4-2 from heat 13.
They could really have killed the tie off, but a surprise race win by the very impressive Nicki Glanz in heat 14 followed by a final heat 5-1 from Lemon and Ostergaard just left the door ajar for the Racers.
However Monarchs would certainly have settled for a 22-point win before the start.
