William Lawson broke his collar bone during a lengthy match against Stoke, a 54-39 win for Monarchs on a night more notable for crashes than good racing.

William's crash came in his second ride, heat 6, as he moved in to challenge Andrew Moore. He clipped Moore's back wheel and cartwheeled awkwardly.

Moore was Ok after treatment but Lawson clearly wasn't, and his broken collar bone was later confirmed.

With Thomas Jonasson missing and Aaron Summers obviously not right following his recent accident in Germany, Monarchs have hit a spell of injuries.

Matthew Wethers also took a fall after partner Derek Sneddon had lost a chain going in to the first corner of heat 13.

At that stage the match had not been decided, but Matthew pulled off a great win from the back against Stoke guest George Stancl in the rerun.

This was just about the only good race on a highly forgettable night. Monarchs followed that with two 5-1 advantages to put a rather false impression on the score.
