Edinburgh Monarchs
The Scotwaste Monarchs pulled off another tremendous result by winning 52-41 at Sheffield, their first win at Owlerton for a dozen years.
Eight league points in two days is a great boost going in to Friday's double header and Monarchs are now in with a good chance of snatching second spot in the Premier League!
It was a long night at Sheffield, with numerous crashes, possibly due to the stock car meeting held there last Sunday. By and large our boys avoided the worst of the incidents though they had to take avoiding action a few times.
It was a team victory but special praise has to go to paid maximum man Ryan Fisher who was solid as a rock.
Andrew Tully fell twice but also won two heats in what was a successful return from injury, and there were two wins also for Kevin Wolbert, the first one aboard Matthew Wethers' bike after his own had been damaged. This was in a crash involving Richard Hall ? Hall wasn't hurt but suffered more in his next ride when team mate Smith fell in his path.
Aaron Summers had a heat win too and after a slow start we saw two excellent rides by Michal Rajkowski for paid wins.
Matthew Wethers won his first ride and was Mr Reliable as usual, coming out in heat 15 to help secure the 4 points.
The team now head home for tomorrow's two matches against Berwick and Redcar, with the cup semi-final second leg at Rye House the next day!
