Urgent action needed by Monarchs fans to overturn Planning Officers' recommendation.

The Edinburgh Monarchs regrets to announce that we have received notification that the Sainsbury's application has been recommended for refusal by West Lothian Council's Planning Officials. We had hoped that because of the range of community benefits that are associated with the Sainsbury's application, the Council would look favourably on the proposal. Unfortunately, the Council has recommended that its own application at Watson Park or the Armadale Station application be granted planning permission.

While we are down, we are definitely not out. Despite being shocked by the recommendation for refusal, it fuels our determination to make our voices heard. While it is undoubtedly disappointing news, we are hopeful that at Wednesday's West Lothian Council's Planning Committee, Councillors will take into account the very real and deliverable benefits offered by Sainsbury's application and overturn the recommendation for refusal.

As fans of the Monarchs, we are asking you to fully and publicly support the Sainsbury's application and enable us to develop the new stadium as quickly and efficiently as possible. There are two ways that this can be done:

Attend the Council's meeting

Show your support at West Lothian Planning Committee's meeting on Wednesday 26th May at 9am.

This meeting will take place in the Council Chambers, West Lothian Civic Centre, Howden South Road, Livingston. It will be an ideal opportunity to make the public support behind the Sainsbury's application known and a great chance for you to voice your views. Monarchs representatives will also be present at the meeting.

or

Write to your locally elected representatives

If you are unable to attend the meeting, we are urging fans of the Monarchs to publicly support the Sainsbury's application in writing. Please feel free to write directly to your locally elected representative or the local press on the addresses below.

If you do feel you can write to your locally elected representatives, please make sure to put your full name and address on the letter. This is the only way to ensure your views are registered.
