Scotwaste Monarchs are pleased to confirm the resigning of William Lawson and he will go straight into the team for Friday's KO Cup Quarter Final against King's Lynn.

William was a leading candidate to be in the starting line up for the 2010 season but he chose to try his luck with Belle Vue in the Elite League. There he found that he was not offered as much racing as he would have liked and cut his ties with the Aces in June. He served a 28 day ban for withholding his services and only, eventually, became available at the beginning of this week.

The 23 year old Scot will come in to replace Tobias Busch, who was forced out of the side last week through severe problems with his equipment.

Said Club Chairman, Alex Harkess, "When Tobias ran into mechanical problems last week and incurred a twenty eight day ban we immediately began the search to find a replacement as the month of August is a very busy time for us. In all honesty our first port of call was William, being an obvious candidate to fill the vacancy. I'm delighted that William has agreed to rejoin us and I think he will make a valuable contribution in the weeks ahead."

Still only 23, William Lawson said, "Although things have not gone as well for me as I'd hoped at Belle Vue I still haven't lost any of my ambition and I'm keen to get back into regular racing. Maybe over the next year or two I'll attempt to become more dominant in the Premier League than I've ever been before. At the moment there are still one or two trophies available to the Scotwaste Monarchs to win this year and I'll be doing my very best to help them do that. I understand that I'll be starting at reserve. I think I can do a bit of damage in that position. I can't wait to get racing again."

William did a lot of his early racing at Armadale, and in his already-varied career he has been part of the Monarchs' team in four previous seasons ? the last being the Championship year of 2008 when he was for a long time the team's no. 1.

He has been at both Berwick and Glasgow in the interim before starting 2010 in the Elite League with Belle Vue.

Dare we say he is coming home?

In a further piece of good news, Finnish rider Kalle Katajisto has declared himself fit to return on Friday following the foot injury sustained recently at Glasgow.

Monarchs have crucial league matches at Berwick (Saturday) and Newcastle (Sunday) following Friday's cup tie, which is sponsored by James Banks Joinery.
