TWO DOWN IN HEAT 14 - HOPEFULLY OK

A bad crash in heat 14 (the best race of the night) overshadowed our 38-57 loss at Somerset.

Matthew Wethers spun off on the last corner after a great duel with Davies and Gathercole, and Kyle Howarth could not avoid piling into him.

Kyle flew through the air and landed out at the fence. Both were shaken, and Matthew injured his left leg, but the early reports are that there has been no serious damage.

It was another match in which we made a poor start, trailing 2-10 after two races. As ever, Tully and Wethers then pulled things round with a 5-1, but we simply didn't have enough of the team going in the first nine heats in spite of the usual sterling efforts of Kyle Howarth.

After that, Kevin Wolbert got the hang of what was a difficult track with fast wins in heats 11 and 15. We also took an 8-1 in heat 10 (from Wethers and Tully, naturally).

Kalle Katajisto was so far off the pace it was embarrassing, while Craig Cook showed again his lack of knowledge of how to cope with damaged track conditions.

We will have a clearer idea tomorrow on whether Wethers and Howarth will be OK for Friday night when Somerset come to Armadale.
