Our friends from the Edinburgh Falcons Cycle Speedway club would have been distributing leaflets at Armadale last night advertising their big event on Sunday, so instead we are pleased to publicise it here.

This Sunday will see the Edinburgh Falcons welcome the 7 other teams from the Northern League to Redbraes for the annual one day shoot out known as the Northern Knock Out Cup. Action gets underway at Noon with the first semi-final including Hull and British Champion Andy Angell, the biggest challenge to the East Yorkshire side will come from Bury as the top 2 teams progress to the final.

The hosts will take to the track in semi-final 2 at 1300 however they face a tricky test with rivals Stockport looking to win the event for the fourth time in a row. Joining both teams in this round are Northumbria Vikings & Sheffield Rockets, the latter notching a home win over the Falcons recently to give the Edinburgh side their first defeat of the season.

The Junior Final will follow at 1400, and already qualified are Edinburgh, Hull & Bury with the latter starting as slight favourites. Following the Juniors will be the main event - The Senior Final at 1500 and it would be foolish to guess any of the 4 finalists given the competitive nature of the league racing so far in 2013.

All matches in the Senior event are 4TT with 1 rider from each team in the race, it should make for spectacular racing at times and hopefully the weather plays ball to ensure a fantastic afternoon. As usual the event is free of charge and refreshments / toilet facilities are available.

Timetable:

1200 - Senior SF1: Astley & Tyldesley v Heckmondwike v Hull v Bury

1300 - Senior SF2: Stockport v Edinburgh v Northumbria v Sheffield

1400 - Junior Final: Bury v Edinburgh v Hull

1500 - Senior Final: top 2 teams from both SF1 & SF2
