A 53-37 win over an unusual Ipswich lineup ensured that the Scotwaste Monarchs sailed in to the Premier Playoff Final and await the winners of the other section which will be finalised next weekend.

After brilliantly taking four points at Ipswich last night, all the Scotwaste Monarchs needed to do was to avoid a 14-point home defeat! However you can’t just assume anything, the riders still have to go out and do the job.

By establishing a 26-10 lead after 6 races, any concievable doubts were effectively removed. In fact tonight was a night when virtually all of the team were going well, though to be fair to Ipswich they kept trying to the end.

They had an excellent guest reserve in Steve Worrall (12 points), and also had race wins from Morten Risager (10) and Matthew Wethers (7), on a night when only 2 true Witches riders were fit to race.

Craig Cook dropped a point in heat 13 to Risager, and that in itself is headline news these days. He gated third and took a couple of laps to get round Wethers. The other home man in double figures was Joe Tabaka with three race wins in his 11 points, but there were good scores from all of the other regular Monarchs.

After his heavy fall at Ipswich Theo Pijper was only half fit, but he still won two races, and qualification for the final was mathematically secured around heat 10.
