It takes a team of considerable character to go to a tough place like Berwick, and pull back a 6-point deficit to win. But the Scotwaste Monarchs did it tonight, maintaining our unbeaten record with a 47-43 triumph.

We've said it so many times but of course having a man like Craig Cook in your team gives you a fighting chance anywhere. He simply cruised to five wins and no- one got near him.

But all of the others played their part and it is the solid team showing which is so pleasing. You couldn't fault any of them.

Steve Worrall is like a gold nugget at no. 7, such a consistent gater and scorer, and his paid 14 was obviously crucial.

Sam Masters looked really good all night and even though he didn't score in heat 13 after a slow start, he was the right choice for the last heat decider. It seemed something of a bonus that Bandits chose gates 2 & 4 for that race.

Max and Derek plugged away in the middle pair, having a torrid time against the aggressive Bellego in heat 10, but both took crucial points in their final rides (Max was forced to change bikes).

Justin won heat two in style, and Aaron took a good point in heat 11 after having two rides to get to know the place.

If we're being honest the win comes as a surprise but a very pleasant one, and shows that once again we have a team well worth watching, as well as one which will surely improve.
