  Edinburgh Monarchs

Much has been written about our third double in a row taking our match winning sequence to six but most folk probably missed one interesting fact.

That is, that Craig Cook was the fourth highest scorer in the match at Workington which shows that the mighty Edinburgh Scotwaste Monarchs are quite capable of winning away from home without relying totally on the league's number one rider.

In fact, with Aaron Fox failing to score and captain Derek following the match from a prone position at home, we produced a solid display of scoring with four riders collecting double points. Every point was valuable as we took the full four league points on offer, winning by more than six points of course!

Can I just say a word of thanks to referee Bates on gifting us an extra point in heat 10 when Max was well beaten on the line into third. Now I can spot a five pence piece on the pavement at twenty yards and from the back straight I clearly saw that Max was third.

Bad refereeing maybe but the group could well have been decided on match points. Whae'd be a ref?

Someone will tell me that it's still mathematically possible to be overtaken but as far as I'm concerned that's us through to the League Cup semi-final. So, I suppose by heat 11 or so on Friday it will be definite!

Then on Sunday we're through at Ashfield for the second time this season and will be looking at making it eight from eight! Wheesht 'B' don't tempt fate!

I did read that the Tigers will be badly deficient at the tail end this weekend with both their Danish reserves elsewhere! Ah weel, another paid 20-odd points for Justin and Steve!

You may have noticed that Friday nights at West Lothian's most exciting sporting venue have been very busy. Just three weeks into the new season and we can report healthy attendances which is great to see but there is still room for more!

Now that the evenings are starting to stretch out and, dare I say it, not so cold why not bring along a friend and their kids and show them a good time!

This Friday is still the school holidays and Ed's always looking for new friends. We'll be handing out Easter Eggs to children as they enter so make sure you're nice and early and get yours!

As usual, it's always good to chat to you and get your gossip. I promise it doesn't go any further than me! And a big Armadale welcome to Glasgow Tigers supporters who are always cordially invited although this week I think they'll be going home with their tails between their legs!

What's that? Sorry, Auntie says I've to stop being so smug and say cheerio! Take care.
