Some enjoyed a longer trip than others on a rainy Thursday but the final outcome was the same for everyone, Ducks 1 Speedway 0.

When the call came from Chris Louis just before one o'clock it was becoming more and more obvious that the Scotwaste Monarchs first league fixture of the season was going to be washed out again. All the riders travelling down the east coast experienced heavy rain. The lucky ones were on the west coast as it was much drier there.

The reaction to the call off differed from rider to rider. On hearing the news one said, "gutted." Another said, "I'm there and it's not raining." We can only assume he wasn't there as it was definitely raining and heavily. A third reaction was, "You woke me up."

The two clubs are in talks about a restaging date. Agreement made all the more difficult these days with riders contesting so many different leagues.

So we try again on Friday evening to stage our opening Premier League match of the season. The weather forecast looks good so we should be OK this time. Although there has been no formal confirmation internet speculation suggests that Theo Pijper will guest for Scunthorpe at number one.
