  Edinburgh Monarchs

This last week has been spectacular, incredible and exciting and must rank high up in the list of memorable weeks in the history of the Edinburgh Scotwaste Monarchs!

It all started last Monday when we trundled en-mass down the A1 to Scunthorpe for the holiday fixture at the home of the Scorpions. Fresh from a 25 point victory over them at Armadale we were high in anticipation that we could do well and go for 10 out of 10! With a full maximum from Craig Cook, a great paid 11 from Max Fricke and a solid all-round performance from the rest of the team we secured our fifth away victory of the season which took us to the top of the Premier League! I celebrated with a small ice-cream cone and Auntie insisted on a portion of chips which she rated as 8.5 out of ten!

Their was a jolly atmosphere in the hotel bar later as we toasted the day and we looked forward to the trip to Peterborough. I was in Grantham when news came through of the postponement and, as it was a waste of time hanging about, I pointed the Edmobile northwards and headed home.

With no fixture scheduled for home on the Friday, our thoughts were focused on the trip to Plymouth on Saturday. All week the BBC Weather app was showing heavy rain for most of the day and I was pleasantly surprized to see the meeting go ahead. It looked like being a tough match with the Devils having regrouped and Max being absent. However, by heat seven we had opened up a ten point lead and with two 5-1s in heats 11 and 12 we had the match won with room to spare and a beautiful four league points in the bag. Not forgetting, of course, that it was now 11 out of 11!

Max was at Leicester in the World U21 Qualifying Round and far from disgraced himself only narrowly missing out on getting to the final. A great achievement. In an exciting week for him, he also made his Danish debut scoring 8 points which included a race win. Steve Worrall continues to shine wherever he races - top scoring for Swindon at Coventry with two race wins. Aye, it's been some week for our boys. I can't keep up with where they all are but let's hope they are well rested for the visit of the Ipswich Witches this Friday.

It's our Special Children's Evening at Armadale this Friday. Fun and games are guaranteed and we look forward to the return of the bouncy castle. However, there is no truth in the rumour that the Directors are getting their faces painted! Till then, as usual, be good and take care.
