The forecast heavy rain proved the only winner at Berwick last night as the Grand Prix qualifier was, eventually, called off almost two hours after the scheduled start time.

Although the lunchtime practice session took place in almost perfect conditions the rain clouds rolled in after that and some fairly heavy rain fell in late afternoon and beyond start time and eventually the organisers had to give in and look for another staging date.

With speedway not permitted on a Sunday at Berwick Monday was the first available day and the meeting will be restaged at 7.30pm.That has caused some confusion with riders due in Poland on Sunday and others due to take part in European Championship qualifiers on Monday.

It was a frustrating day for Craig Cook as he hung around in the rain after he had completed a very good practice session.

Over in Germany Max Fricke top scored for the Australian Under 21 team as they just missed out on winning the qualifying round to the Czech Republic, Nick Morris losing a run-off to Vaclav Milik when both teams finished on 37. Great Britain came third on 34.
