The Scotwaste Monarchs are going up a mountain, Scotland’s highest one, to do their bit for the club as they press onwards in their incredibly successful season.

A sponsored climb of Ben Nevis was the idea of Lord Rocket (Geoff Craythorne) who was planning to do the trek with the company of some fellow enthusiasts, but when the riders heard about it they wondered why they had not been included!

Captain Derek Sneddon said “We’ve been scoring so many points this season, most of us anyway, that we realise we must be putting a strain on the coffers. If we can help by joining in with Geoff then why not?”

All seven of the side will be going up the mountain on Saturday 23rd August, along with Geoff and anyone else who would like to join in.

They are looking for sponsors, and sponsor sheets for each rider will be available at Armadale from this Friday, as well as general sponsor sheets in the programme. There will be an individual total for each rider as well as a team total for all funds raised. The ambitious target the team have is to raise £10,000 for club funds.

Club chairman Alex Harkess said “They are a remarkable group who get on so well together, we really appreciate their efforts, and they genuinely want to contribute to the betterment of the club.”
