RAIN CREATES ANOTHER PROBLEM

The heavy rain of Sunday has created another hiccup in the Scotwaste Monarchs' fixture planning with both legs of the Glasgow/Newcastle KO Cup quarter final being postponed

That means that, for the moment, Cup semi final dates with the winner of that tie cannot be established. The hope was to bring the planning of that tie into the fixture planning conundrum with league fixtures with Newcastle and Redcar to be re-arranged and the League Cup Final with Peterborough still to be fitted into the diary.

The continuing poor weather is making progress in the Premier League difficult. With only five weeks to go before the cut off date for the Play-offs Peterborough and Workington have only staged five matches and each have nine to go at home. Others are somewhat luckier. Ipswich, Newcastle and Redcar have only three home matches to stage.

One change to the Scotwaste Monarchs calendar now sees Berwick coming to visit in the league on Friday week 22nd August, thus filling the blank date in our calendar. Needless to say talks are going on every day in an attempt to re-schedule matches and more announcements are likely this week.
