  Edinburgh Monarchs

It doesn't seem that long ago that August looked like being a very busy month for the Scotwaste Monarchs as a team but, thanks to the rain, it turned out quite the opposite!

Three Premier League fixtures were lost (two home and one away) and we are now in the position that it looks highly unlikely that all the remaining matches will be run before the cut-off date of September 14th. That means that we probably won't top the League at that point but I'm not too worried! We will at the end of the season when all matches have been run! I'm not a great lover of the play-offs, preferring the first past the post system but we live in a democracy and if that's the deal then so be it. Please, next season, forget about the extra fixtures! Whose idea was that! So far this season, only Somerset has beaten us on aggregate scores (96-90) and I am confident that we can beat any team home and away so it doesn't matter who we have in the play-offs. It's the play-off final that's the biggie and who's to say it won't be Somerset!

Let's not forget we still have the League Cup Final to run against Peterborough along with the Knockout Cup semi-final against either Newcastle or Glasgow (since we can beat them both we've got the Final to anticipate as well). I personally think the Scottish Cup will be put on hold this year as I can't see where that can be fitted in! So that means we could still have twenty fixtures in the next nine weeks! If you didn't hear me the first time – Please, next season, forget about the extra fixtures.

I was only in the stadium ten minutes last week. As I parked up I spotted young Gordon Campbell coming my way to tell me the rotten news that the match was postponed so it was back home without stepping out of the car! I did consider joining the young 'uns at the Karting but decided not to do so as I didn't want to show them up! Maybe one day!

This Friday we entertain Sheffield in the League. The Tigers are currently propping up the table but I think they'll do better than their last visit back in June. It'll have been two weeks since most of us watched any racing and I'm just looking forward to seeing four bikes go round the track! I'll be at the gate as usual waiting for you and I expect you'll have plenty to tell me so come nice and early! I think it might be a September heatwave! Till then, be good and take care.
