It’s a double meeting at Armadale Speedway this Friday as the Newcastle Diamonds return following the rain off at Armadale last week and then the Scotwaste Monarchs go for glory in the second meeting as they hope to maintain a winning lead over Peterborough to win a national trophy, the League Cup.

THE TEAMS FOR THE KNOCK OUT CUP SEMI FINAL AT ARMADALE ON FRIDAY 10TH OCTOBER (start time 7.00, doors open 6.15) are:

SCOTWASTE MONARCHS: Craig Cook, Justin Sedgmen, Max Fricke, Stevie Worrall, Sam Masters, Aaron Fox, Derek Sneddon (captain)

NEWCASTLE DIAMONDS: Danny King, Lewis Rose(rider replacement), Stuart Robson, Theo Pijper (guest for Lewis Kerr), Ludvig Lindgren, Simon Nielsen, Max Dilger (Guest for Chris Mills).

DIAMONDS AIM TO SPARKLE: It certainly wasn’t possible for the Diamonds to sparkle last week at Armadale as the rain came tumbling down two hours before start time but they’re back this week aiming to maintain their only chance of picking up silverware this season. The Diamonds have been the best visitors to Armadale this season coming close to a win just four weeks ago. That night their skipper crashed out of the meeting in his first race so they will present a real threat to the Monarchs this time round. The Diamonds will still be without the injured Lewis Kerr, their top man last time but Glasgow’s captain Theo Pijper should be an adequate replacement. They also include former Monarch, German Max Dilger, in their team.

Scotwaste Monarchs are at full strength.

Monarchs team manager Alex Harkess said, “We’ve had an extra week to think about this tie now and all I can think is that we must get a big lead on Friday to take to the return at Newcastle on Sunday. Every point is going to be crucial in this tie.”

THE TEAMS FOR THE LEAGUE CUP FINAL AT ARMADALE ON FRIDAY 10TH OCTOBER (start time 8.30 APPROX) are:

SCOTWASTE MONARCHS: Craig Cook, Justin Sedgmen, Max Fricke, Stevie Worrall, Sam Masters, Aaron Fox, Derek Sneddon (captain)

PETERBOROUGH PANTHERS: Richard Lawson (guest for Lasse Bjerre), Adam Roynon, Ulrich Ostergaard(captain), Richard Hall(rider replacement), Kevin Doolan (guest for Ales Dryml), Max Dilger, Alex Edberg (guest for Nikki Barrett)

The first leg of the League Cup Final took place at Peterborough last Sunday and the Scotwaste Monarchs won by 46 to 44. That gives the Scotwaste Monarchs a great chance of securing the League Cup. Peterborough were good visitors to Armadale earlier in the season but only skipper, Ulrich Ostergaard, remains from the side that visited back in June. Due to injury and retirements it is very much a patched up Panthers line up.

Monarchs team manager Alex Harkess said, “I’d like to think that we have done much of the hard work down at Peterborough on Sunday but we are racing for a national trophy so I don’t expect the Panthers will just roll over. I’ll be very happy when we reach a Cup winning score.”

The meeting is sponsored by Monarchs team sponsors, Scotwaste Recycling of Bathgate.

LAST MEETING: The rain won at Armadale last Friday and the match against Newcastle was rescheduled for this week.

NEXT WEEK: We will make a suitable announcement once it has been established if we have qualified for the Knock Out Cup Final (to be established on Sunday) and once our Premier League Championship Final opponents are decided. This will be established on Friday when contenders Somerset and Ipswich race.
