At another packed Video Night last Friday, the biggest thrill was being introduced to our new sponsors and hearing we are to be called the Edinburgh Border Roofing Monarchs!

I'm looking forward to working with company owner Eddie McKenna and his lovely wife Norma and hope they thoroughly enjoy their association with a Championship winning and record breaking sporting club! I also hope they like champagne! We've kind of got used to it!

I enjoyed watching the away highlights from the 2014 season (I found myself remembering the catering facilities at each track as the races unfolded!). In particular, when we won the Best Pairs at Somerset. I hadn't noticed before that the fence on the back straight in front of the Monarchs supporters collapsed as our fans leant forward to acknowledge Sam and Max's achievement! I wonder if Garry May sent us a bill? It was great to see Sam and Max again on Friday and good of them to attend and chat to the fans. I'm sure Max will enjoy Belle Vue as he races with his 2014 mates Steve Worrall and Craig Cook.

Last week I mentioned that Ronnie Anderson was looking for volunteers to lend a wee hand at the track this coming Saturday 7th March. If you can assist him then pop along about 9.30/10 o'clock. The main gate will be open. If the weather looks awful then give him a ring for an update but, as the work needs to be done, it would have to be very bad indeed! His number is 07810 773635. Theo Pijper's Testimonial event seems to be shaping up quite nicely. Riders so far are: Kevin Wolbert, Claus Vissing, Aaron Summers, Kenneth Hansen, Rene Deddens, Henkie Koonstra, Rusty Harrison and, of course, Theo himself! There are two or three there that I haven't seen ride and I'm looking forward to. Of the sponsorship opportunities available, I like the look of working with the referee! That could be good fun! I've hardly left any room to chat about the Monarchs' Fans Trust. If you haven't heard about it yet, then seek it out and gen up. It's a cracking idea and already generating support. Right, I'm away to get my case out as I'm heading for the sun this weekend. I need a wee break before the excitement starts! Take care!
