The Border Roofing Monarchs have confirmed their place in the League Cup semi finals following Saturday night's match at Berwick.

Although the match at Shielfield ended in unfortunate circumstances following a big crash involving Alex Edberg, the result at the time of abandonment after heat 11 gave Workington a two point victory and three League Cup points. They needed all four to remain in contention for a semi final place.

So we have won the Border qualifying section and Glasgow have been confirmed as runners up. However, no one else has yet been confirmed as a semi final qualifier. Sheffield could confirm their place if they pick up a point at Redcar on Tuesday. Newcastle can still finish second in that group, or even win it depending on the outcome of the match at Redcar, with a home win over Sheffield on a date still to be agreed and could pip Glasgow if that turned out to be a big win.

The southern section will be decided on 22nd May when Plymouth restage their match with Ipswich. If the Witches win then they qualify. If they don't Rye House qualify. Neither can be the best runner up.

Justin Sedgmen just missed out on qualification for the next round of the GP qualifiers at Gorican, Croatia on Saturday evening. He scored 8 points but needed 9 to get into the run-off for the last qualifying place.

Craig Cook is in Italy for Sunday afternoon's GP Qualifier at Lonigo. It looks like that there is a group of 10 riders chasing the 7 qualifying spots. Craig will have to have his gating boots on to make it through.

Both Craig and Justin will be back in the UK on Sunday evening in preparation for our league match at Scunthorpe on Monday afternoon.
