The Border Roofing Monarchs float attended the Bathgate Gala Day and was proud to join in the parade as it wound it's way through the West Lothian town.

The intermittent showers failed to put off the many thousands of spectators who lined both sides of the streets for the full length of the spectacle. The truck, which was decorated with blue and yellow bunting and eye-catching banners, was an immense hit with the on-lookers many of whom perhaps saw a speedway bike and rider for the first time and will be tempted to come along!

Interaction with the crowd was provided mostly by Ed the Monarch who revels in these such occasions despite his whiskers getting a little moist! Machines and riders were courteously provided by regular Armadale second-halfer Kev Whelan and Team Woelbert to which we are very grateful. Glamour on the back was beautifully displayed by Monarch's fans Emily Glanvill and Nicole Wright. Driving, jokes and community singing was by Eddie (look no hands) McKenna and navigation and photography was by his lovely wife Norma!

Indeed, from the Club's perspective it was a resounding success and we can all now look forward to the Armadale Gala Day in two weeks time.
