Today and tomorrow, a large contingent of Edinburgh Speedway supporters will be setting off for the two-day bonanza of Speedway with the PL Pairs on Friday at Somerset and the British GP at Cardiff on Saturday.

Defending the title won by Sam Masters and Max Fricke last year, Kevin Wolbert teams up with Sam this time. Both have had good meetings at the OTA before, and while any pair is capable of doing well, looking through the Group opposition it looks well within the capability of our duo to win the section.

GROUP A:

EDINBURGH: Sam Masters/Kevin Wolbert

IPSWICH: Danny King/Rohan Tungate

RYE HOUSE: Edward Kennett/Nikolaj B Jakobsen

PETERBOROUGH: Ulrich Ostergaard/Michael Palm Toft

NEWCASTLE: Lewis Kerr/Steve Worrall

The other group does look tougher with home team Somerset and Glasgow probably looking strongest. So if we make the semis we might well meet one of these. After that, anything can happen!

GROUP B:

GLASGOW: Nick Morris/Richard Lawson

SOMERSET: Brady Kurtz/Josh Grajczonek

WORKINGTON: Kyle Howarth/Ricky Wells

REDCAR: Lasse Bjerre/Stuart Robson

BERWICK: Thomas Jorgensen/Kevin Doolan

Craig Cook of course will be practising at Cardiff on Friday and his aim will be to do better on the big day than his 2 points last season.

He has admitted that he has experimented a lot this year in order to progress, and it hasn’t always been a success. He has talked of having to take one step back to then take two forward. Is that happening?

It’s hard to know what will happen with a rider who can be brilliant (eg at Glasgow or the British Final) or disappointing (4 at Belle Vue on Monday). We know what he is capable of and we’re all willing him on for a great meeting.
