Our top two riders were racing at Leicester on Saturday evening, Sam Masters for his Elite League team Leicester and Craig Cook guesting for Swindon. Neither of them made it to the end of the meeting and both have been to hospital since.

First of all the news on Craig is positive. He came down in heat thirteen whilst chasing Jason Doyle. He landed in the air fence but his bike followed him and gave him a hefty bash between his shoulders on the back of his neck. A visit to hospital on Sunday has confirmed that there is nothing broken and Craig intends to ride for Belle Vue on Monday.

Said Craig, "They breed em tough in my town. We have steak pie for breakfast not cornflakes." That's good to know.

The news on Sam is still sketchy. He laid his bike down to avoid the fallen Adam Roynon and ended up with a hand injury, originally thought to be a dislocated thumb and then believed to be a broken hand. Sam visited the local hospital in Leicester but having waited six hours, until three in the morning, he left without being examined. He travelled north on Sunday to visit St John's at Livingston.

After a significant wait at the Livingston hospital the hand specialist there was able to confirm a broken bone in the hand and Sam will undergo an operation on Monday and is likely to be out of action for four weeks.

On Sunday Sam said, "As soon as I came down at Leicester I knew there was something wrong. After the crash I couldn't move my thumb but it was a bit better on Sunday. I'm not good at sitting around doing nothing so I'll be back racing as soon as possible."

Our next match is at Ipswich on Thursday and with Rob Branford still out injured we are looking for two guests for the match.
