Stellar Monarchs and Stellar Monarchs Academy will be led from the top this year with the announcement at Friday night's Season Launch event that Josh Pickering and Kyle Bickley will take on the role of captain as well as the number 1 race jacket in their respective sides.

Pickering was a bit of a de facto captain behind Sam Masters last year and entering his 7th year as a Monarch he doesn't see the job as anything different this year, "I feel like I have backed Sam up in that aspect and supported the boys any way I can anyway so in that aspect nothing will really change, I'll just continue being me.

"Realistically I don't want to separate myself from anyone in that way. Any one of us can be a captain in the pits, it is just that I am the one that goes and flips the coin and does the interviews. We will all jump in and help each other, that is the main thing and that comes down to the mechanics and everyone. We are a team, and everyone will be helping each other and keeping that good atmosphere."

Kyle Bickley, despite his tender age, is also full of experience particularly at National Development League level with previous captaincy roles at both Belle Vue and Berwick so he knows exactly what is required.

"The idea is just to lead the front, there are a few lads who have less experience than me even though I am still young so I will look to show an example and help everyone out where I can. I have done it before so it is something I am used to, getting everyone going to make sure they are all riled and ready to go so I am looking forward to it."

Pickering's first go at winning that coin toss comes this Friday as the Glasgow Tigers come to Armadale Stadium in BSN Sereis action while Bickley needs to wait a further 7 days to the 14th April and the visit to the 'Dale of his former side Belle Vue.
