Armadale 1998 joins EMTV+

With no action scheduled at home this week, the EMTV team have delved into the archive to dig out another season to enjoy!

1998 was the second season of the Armadale era and saw club legends Peter Carr and Kenny McKinna target another season of glory off the back of the cup-winning 1997 season.

Mike Hunter's Highlight

The next season of matches we have for EMTV+ customers is 1998, our second at Armadale. It wasn't quite as successful on-track as 1997 though we did start by beating Reading in the Premiership, the competition for the previous season's league v cup winners.

It was the year of the Gathering, the Kenny McKinna Farewell which starred Sam Ermolenko, and also a brilliant Scottish Open Championship on 28th August which brought back Frede Schott.

There was plenty of thrilling league racing, a hefty home defeat by Berwick and the meeting I rate as one of the very best ever at the track – my selected 1998 highlight – which was the Scotland v England Under-21 international featuring Scott Nicholls and Lee Richardson.

As an additional highlight we have the 1998 Peter Craven day staged at Meadowbank, in which you can see Ian Hoskins, Ove Fundin and many famous names.
