Monarchs Look To Avoid Scorpions Sting

PREVIEW Friday 7th July 2023, 10:45am

by Graham Muncie

  Edinburgh Monarchs

The Stellar Monarchs are on the road on Friday evening as a trip to Lincolnshire awaits to take on the Scunthorpe Scorpions in Championship action.

This hopefully starts a busier spell for the Monarchs with 8 matches scheduled in the next 4 weeks a run that will make or break the playoff chances with a bit of catching up required after a slow start to the season.

Points will not be easy in this one though with the hosts showing their power with a string of 50+ scores on their own shale so far this year and with the Scorpions having won comprehensively at Armadale earlier in the year there will be no bonus point to be had should a big win not be achieved.

The Monarchs will look to gain optimism from the fact that it has been feast or famine for the Scorpions as any match that 50 hasn't been achieved has resulted in victory for the visitors (albeit Oxford needing the 'super heat' to achieve this).

The Monarchs also have a more settled lineup than at any point this year with Paco Castagna the only absentee in this one. Anyone who follows the Italian seeing just how much effort he is putting to getting back on track.

Rider replacement will operate for Castagna with all bar Josh and Craig due an extra ride.

The hosts also operate one change to their usual lineup with Zach Cook stepping in for Michael Palm Toft, Cook having recorded a paid 9 score guesting for Birmingham against the Scorpions when they visited last month.

A 7.30pm tapes up in this one with the match being live streamed at https://tv.scunthorpe-speedway.com live updates also available on the Monarchs official website.
