Stellar Monarchs Co-Promoter John Campbell is focussing on a return to form for the team in this Friday's Cab Direct Championship clash against Scunthorpe Scorpions.

Speaking after Stellar Monarchs opened their Cab Direct Championship campaign with subpar performances at the weekend, John Campbell said, "We have had a positive start to the season with a strong BSN Series campaign so far which has put a place in the semi finals in our own hands.

"It is clear that the performances over the weekend were not up to the standards that we have set for ourselves this season. Circumstances with injury and illness conspired against us and I firmly believe that with a full strength team last Friday and Saturday that we would have seen very different results.

"It was unfortunate but conversely the fortunate thing is that it is early in the season and we have time to put things right. There is a terrific spirit in the team and even when understrength at Workington the team never stopped battling.

"We will carry this spirit forward and get the results back on track."

Both Josh Pickering and Lasse Fredriksen were sidelined over the weekend, Campbell was able to provide the following update, "Josh had an untidy tumble on Friday and has injured the same shoulder he hurt last season. He is flying to Poland for scans and further assessment this week at which point we hope it will be possible to estimate a timescale for his return.

"Lasse Fredriksen has continued to be assessed in Norway and is confident that he will be able to return to the side this Friday. We'll know, for sure, in the next day or two but it would be a terrific boost for us to have Lasse back as he has been developing into a solid scorer.

"Paco will be missing on Friday as he's taking part in the GP qualifier on Saturday in Italy. This is a prestigious meeting which can see him progress to the GP Challenge and we are proud to have Paco in this. Despite me and him searching for a flight to get him there for the sign on time on Saturday it has not been possible."

Monarchs bosses have moved quickly to reinforce the side for Friday securing excellent guests, Campbell confirmed, "We are delighted to welcome back two former Monarchs on Friday. Sam Masters will step in for Josh with Drew Kemp covering for Paco.

"We know the job at hand against Scunthorpe on Friday will not be easy but we are confident that we are giving ourselves the best chance of a strong performance.

"It is also our annual Children's Evening on Friday with fun and games for the kids so we are looking forward to a great night both on and off the track."
