The Stellar Monarchs will need to maintain recent improved form to repel the challenge of Scunthorpe Scorpions this Friday at Armadale. The Scorpions started this week at the top of the Championship table, having won two home and two away matches, lost only one and taken the two aggregate bonus points they have contested.

They have a very solid side with Kyle Howarth at number one and good scorers all the way down to at least number 6, and although Michael Palm Toft is currently injured, the rider replacement facility allows all his team mates an extra ride.

Max James returns to the home side after his recent rib injury and there is a change of riding order also in the Monarchs' ranks, swapping Kye Thomson who moves to number 2 and Lasse Fredriksen who will now be number 3.

Team manager Alex Harkess calls for all the home men performing to their known ability. "It's a match that could well be tight, Scunthorpe are doing well although I think they are a very strong home team and don't do quite as well away from home. It's a match we have to win and I sincerely hope we do win. We expect to be at full strength I gather so it will be nice to have Max back hopefully scoring a few points.

"As always at Armadale if all our riders ride at the level we think they are capable of, then we will be fine. We don't know what the weather is going to be like, that always has a bearing."

Monarchs and Scorpions will meet later in the season in the semi-finals of the BSN Series, while Monarchs have a trip to Scunthorpe's Eddie Wright Raceway a week on Friday in the away leg of the Championship fixture.

Friday's match will be Live Streamed for those who cannot attend, details on www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk.
