Locally-based racer Rachel Hellowell has secured fifth place in the inaugural FIM Women's Speedway Gold Trophy.

Born in Yorkshire but now based in Central Scotland, Rachel has represented the Monarchs at Northern Junior League level lining up in the West Lothian Wildcats and Armadale Angels sides in recent times. She is also a regular helper with our Community Initiative at the stadium on a Friday night.

Rachel began her title tilt on Saturday with a last place in her opening ride before bouncing back to notch back-to-back race wins in her second and third rides to secure six points and the fifth place overall finish in the event - just one point away from a place on the podium!

Workington Comets rider Celina Liebmann took the title, with Nynke Sijbesma of the Netherlands second and Australia's Anika Loftus third. Britain's other representative, Katie Gordon, finished seventh.

Very well done to Rachel!
