You might struggle to remember what the home riders look like, it's so long since they have raced at Armadale, but the Stellar Omada Monarchs Academy return to action this Friday 12th July after almost three months since the previous home meeting.

They will meet a completely new side to the National Development League, although under a historic speedway name when the Middlesbrough Tigers provide the opposition.

The Middlesbrough side, based at Redcar of course, have won their home meetings so far and done pretty well on their travels. They have Jake Mulford leading the way, and he might well be described as the match-winner last week for Redcar against the Monarchs. They will not have the other Redcar reserve though because Ben Trigger is away riding in Poland with ex-Monarch Matt Marson standing in.

Popular reserve for the Academy Kyran Lyden comes from the Middlesbrough area and will be a key man against his local side. He says ""Obviously, this weekend is the big one for me, I am a local boy to Middlesbrough so when the fixtures came out this was the one I looked for first. This will be a big one for me and I have made sure I am ready for these fixtures.

"If you look at our 1-7 then we have riders all the way that can beat anyone in any opposition, we just need to start doing it and build some momentum the rest of the way".

The return fixture is at Redcar on Saturday with start time 3pm.

Friday's match will be Live Streamed for those who cannot attend, details on www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk.
