The 1997 season has raced onto EMTV+ showcasing a special year in the history of the Monarchs - the first at Armadale Stadium!

1997 saw the arrival of the Monarchs to Armadale Stadium, having spent a nomadic season in the west the previous year.

The season saw some fantastic racing on the country's newest track, topped off with a phenomenal Knock Out Cup clash with Oxford.

Plus, check out the short video documenting the transformation of the stadium into our new home through March 1997.

Monarchs historian Mike Hunter added, "There was a great deal of excitement at our new surroundings in 1997, and the crowds were good while the expenditure was reduced on the previous two seasons.

"Our heat leader trio of Peter Carr, Kenny McKinna and Robert Eriksson has rarely been surpassed in the club's history and they led us to the cup final in which we met a lively Oxford team at the end of August.

"This was a memorable occasion, with a packed stadium, and we clinched the cup after having won at Oxford the night before. But it wasn't easy! An additional bonus was having a high vantage point for some of the shots courtesy of Ronnie Anderson."
