A new air fence is set to be installed at Armadale Stadium ahead of the 2025 season with fundraising activities set to raise the necessary funds to cover this significant outlay.
The current additional protective device, to give it its formal name, or air fence as it is commonly known, has reached the end of its useful life and the Speedway Control Bureau have instructed that a new one must be in place for the start of the 2025 season.
Said co-promoter, John Campbell, "We have been aware that our air fence has been nearing the end of its useful life. It deteriorates over the years when doing its job, with every impact taking a little bit of life out of it and sitting in the sun every day, well maybe every other day, also makes it slightly more brittle on an ongoing basis. That's why SCB have rules in place for replacement after a period of time."
John added, "It's a substantial five figure outlay that the Club faces over the close season and we have plans in place to fund this outlay initially and we are grateful to those who are prepared to help. We do intend to put some fundraising projects in place to help with this expense. Maybe you'd like your name in big letters on a panel of the new fence?
"We're putting together a number of ideas and events to help us with this significant outlay for the Club and will publish these shortly. We hope that we can all have some fun along with raising the funds required."
Under Speedway Control Board Regulations an Additional Protective Device is mandatory on tracks where 500cc motorcycles are raced and must be installed on or against a fence specifically approved by the SCB.
