  Edinburgh Monarchs

Tony McDonald is deputy editor of speedway Star, and formerly produced the much-loved Backtrack and Classic Speedway magazines. He is currently running a series of articles featuring memories of clubs mainly from each team's supporters but also perhaps visitors to their tracks.

Oddly enough though he asked through Facebook a while back for comments from Monarchs' fans, we have not produced as many as other clubs. This is surprising given how many memories we have and how history-conscious our fans are. Perhaps, as supporter Keith Lamont commented, we have described our memories already so many times.

If anyone would like to contribute now to help Tony fill his pages, send a contribution to retroeditorial@gmail.com

Here's what Tony said originally:

"Over the years which riders, meetings, incidents and people associated with this track stand out in your mind – and why? Which pubs did/do you drink in before and after meetings?

Some memory-joggers…

• Jack Young, George Hunter, Bert Harkins, Doug Templeton, Brian Collins, Jack Millen, Dave Trownson, Steve Lomas, Bobby Beaton, Neil Collins, Les Collins, Brett Saunders, Doug Wyer, Michael Coles, Scott Lamb, Kenny McKinna, Peter Carr, Craig Cook, Sam Masters, Josh Pickering, etc.

• The 1981 KO Cup and Fours winners and all the Premier League silverware in the noughties.

• Scottish derbies against Glasgow Tigers Speedway.

• Ian Hoskins, Mike Parker, John Campbell, Alex Harkess

• Scandinavians Bernie Persson, Reidar Eide, Oyvind Berg, Henry Harrfeldt, Frede Schott, etc."

Send him something if you can.
