The Club are devastated by the news of the sudden passing of Monarchs Speedway Academy Co-ordinator Garry Dickson at the age of 56.
Garry was the enthusiastic leader and administrator of the Monarchs Speedway Academy since its inception in the spring of 2021. His dedication and love of speedway was key in helping to grow the Academy from a standing start to the success it has become.
As a speedway fan since Monarchs opened at Powderhall Stadium in 1977, Garry was a regular on the terraces before taking the step onto the centre green to assist as part of the first aid team since 2015.
Stellar Monarchs Co-Promoter, John Campbell said, "Garry had an infectious enthusiasm for everything he did. His work on the Monarchs Speedway Academy project was immense and he was very much the focal point of that part of our organisation.
"Garry was a popular figure at our regular coaching sessions, always on hand on the day to keep everything flowing as well as keeping in close contact with parents and children alike to co-ordinate Academy activities.
"To say that he will be missed would be a huge understatement."
Monarchs Development Director, Gordon Campbell added, "Garry's tremendous energy and passion for the Monarchs was clear from the first time we met. We worked closely behind the scenes across various projects which Garry skilfully delivered. He was as big a Monarchs fan as you could find and was determined to help drive the Academy forward.
"Garry had recently retired and was looking forward to spending more of his time in supporting the Monarchs. We will continue to expand his legacy with the Monarchs Speedway Academy in his honour. I and everyone who knew Garry will miss him greatly."
The Club sends its deepest condolences to his wife Caroline, his daughters Katie and Eilidh, and all who loved Garry.
