It is high five for returning Kye Thomson as he makes it half a decade in the Blue and Gold in 2025 looking for a return to the playoffs and a Cab Direct Championship tilt with some new faces around him.
Kye said, "It is shaping up to look a very good year.
"I am excited to have the new riders in the team and I think they are going to hit the ground running and so are we. There are a few of us back from last year as well and we know what to do and I am looking forward to it.
"I can't wait to see the new guys go round and it was fun meeting them, I have seen Victor before, and he is a top racer and I am sure the others are the same so maybe we are underdogs a little this season, but I am sure we will surprise a few."
Making Kye all the keener to get going is the fact he spent the latter stages of last year on the sidelines with a nasty scaphoid injury sustained racing in Sweden, this injury now behind him, "It took a fair while to heal and sitting on the sidelines and missing out on the Australian titles again was frustrating.
"After new year we got back going and just slowly been putting in a lot of laps and I am excited, I was due to start at Dougy's testimonial and it was a shame we got hit with that downpour but I can't wait for the Scottish Cup matches now.
"The start of last year wasn't what I hoped for, but we changed around a few things and it kicked things off and it gave me motivation. I was putting in decent points for the team, so the plan is to hit the ground running."
After that brief spell in Sweden last year Thomson has set his sights on more meetings this year and further progression albeit he admits the first aim is for this to happen a little closer to Edinburgh than looking abroad at first, "It was good to get those extra meetings and keep me going last year as racing one league I never feel is enough so I made the switch.
"This year I am not rushing into anything I want to concentrate on Edinburgh and then maybe a Premiership team, that is my aim and my goal for this year and hopefully that happens but if not then I might look abroad again."
The first chance for Kye to impress will come this Friday as Glasgow come calling in Scottish Cup action tickets available now.
