Redcar Bears made it back to back Championship Pairs victories as they defeated Poole in a dramatic final at Workington on an afternoon where the Monarchs were never in contention.

12 points in total the Monarchs score meaning they finished equal at the bottom of the standings with Scunthorpe and hosts Workington.

That doesn't tell the full story of the Monarchs day though as Kye Thomson battled well and was responsible for the entirety of the Monarchs haul,

Kye was involved in battles in all his heats riding a smart outside line to battle past Ben Barker in his first heat, Lewi Kerr in his second and Antti Vuolas in his third.

Unfortunately, partner Justin Sedgmen could not trouble the scorers throughout so there was never any challenge for a semi final slot.

The positions going in to the semis, in scoring order were Glasgow, Plymouth, Poole and the Bears.

The first semi saw Charles Wright and Erik Riss rocket from the gate to end the Tigers day while the second semi saw the Pirates edge out the Gladiators.

So to the final and it was Redcar again who hit the front before Lewi Kerr and Riss came together on the third bend.

Thankfully both were up and walked back to the pits albeit Kerr looking a little worse off.

This meant the final became somewhat of an anti climax albeit no one must have told Erik this as he rounded Zach Cook to end his and the victorious Bears day in style.
