A fantastic opening night crowd was wonderful for all to see at the first meeting of the season a fortnight ago but it did raise some issues with car parking in the local area.

Car parks quickly filled up resulting in supporters finding other places to park in the nearby streets which created a number of comments from our neighbours.

Monarchs Co-promoter, John Campbell said, "We were delighted to welcome our biggest crowd for a number of years to our opening event but that also brought the biggest number of cars for a number of years. Our car parks quickly filled up and many cars then used the neighbouring housing estates across the road at Birkdale Park and Mallace Avenue on the left as you head into town.

"Mallace Avenue is a particular problem as parking on the first part the road completely blocks one side of the carriageway and creates the danger of collision between cars entering and leaving the estate.

"Supporters also parked on grassed areas of this estate and this cannot happen again. All I can ask is that all supporters use consideration in parking and think how they would feel if someone parked at their front door in an equivalent situation."

Work has been underway to maximise the capacity of both stadium car parks and hopefully this will help the parking situation for all.
