It is with great disappointment that news has come that Stellar Monarchs reserve Max James has stood down from racing at the current time, requesting that he be taken out of the team for the foreseeable future.
In a phone call to Stellar Monarchs co-promoter, John Campbell, this afternoon Max stated that he didn't think he was doing himself or the team any favours by continuing to ride at the present time.
Campbell said, "Max sounded very down when I spoke to him. He's clearly had a crisis of confidence and has been worrying about upcoming meetings.
"It's a shame that it has come to this as he showed such promise when he joined us but maybe that crash at Birmingham a couple of weeks ago was the final straw for him.
"We all hope that Max can recover his confidence and return to racing in due course. We wish him all the best for the future."
Stellar Monarchs have been granted a facility for 28 days to cover for his absence but will be attempting to fill the vacancy in the team with a full time replacement as soon as possible.
For this Friday's BSN Series home clash agains Glasgow, Monarchs have secured the services of Dayle Wood to guest for the team. A guest for Saturday's away match at Berwick will be announced when confirmed.
