Edinburgh Monarchs Academy will line up in the 2026 National Development League, continuing the club's commitment to youth development.

The 2026 National Development League will feature six teams, with the Academy taking on King's Lynn Young Stars, Leicester Lion Cubs, Middlesbrough Tigers, Oxford Chargers, plus the Buxton Bulls with the sport returning to Buxton for the first time since 2018.

Each team will race each other once at home and once away throughout the season. Teams will be built to a limit of 42.00 points, with new riders to the league now entering on a 2.00 average rather than a 3.00 to help ease their entry into league racing.

Following a strong 2025 campaign which saw the Academy come agonisingly close to the league title, the team will be aiming to go one better in 2026.

The Club are also pleased to confirm that the West Lothian Wildcats will compete in the Northern Junior League again this season.

The continuation of NDL and NJL racing is part of Monarchs commitment to youth development opportunities. Starting with kids learning their skills at Monarchs Speedway Academy, progressing into youth racing at Northern Junior League level, onto National Development League action, before breaking through into the Monarchs senior team.
