The club is now in a position to issue an update on the condition of Monarchs Academy captain Connor Coles.

Connor is no longer in the medically induced coma he was placed in last Sunday. He has shown gradual improvements in recent days and is now conscious. The full extent of Connor's brain injury is not yet known but recent days have been encouraging with regard to his eventual recovery.

We have been delighted to learn of Connor's progress in recent days. The club continue to support Connor's family and his team mates in this difficult time. We will issue further updates when appropriate.

At this Friday's match at Armadale Stadium against Berwick, a collection will be held to assist Connor's continued rehabilitation and support his wife Kirsty and their two young children.

Kirsty Coles has prepared the following statement which the club wish to share on her behalf:

"Last week, Connor was involved in a serious incident and was admitted to a major trauma unit, where he has been receiving specialist care. The first few days were critical, and he required intensive monitoring and support while doctors worked to stabilise his condition.

"Over the past week, there has been steady and encouraging progress. Connor is now awake and breathing independently, although he remains extremely fatigued, and continues to be closely monitored as his recovery progresses.

"There is still a long road ahead. Connor continues to receive treatment and will require time, rest, and rehabilitation to understand the full extent of his recovery. At this stage, it is too early to predict long-term outcomes.

"We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the emergency services, medical teams, and hospital staff who have provided outstanding care. We are also incredibly grateful for the support, kindness, and generosity shown by the community during this difficult time.

"We would also like to sincerely thank everyone who has donated through track collections and GoFundMe. Your generosity has made a real difference to our family and means more than we can express.

"Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support."
