Edinburgh Monarchs Academy put in another dominant display to complete a quick fire double over Middlesbrough as they ran out 18 point victors on Teeside in a match they were never headed.

As it was in the home leg there were strong performances throughout leaving Academy boss Scott Wilson to beam "We picked up right where we left off last night, the team were fantastic again.

''I was pleased with the performance on track, of course, but equally as pleasing was the team effort off track. Already at this early stage there's a fantastic spirit among the team, everyone wants to help each other out.

''A very satisfying first weekend of our season and well done to all of the team for two fantastic results and performances."

Wilson's men started strongly with heat advantages in heats three, five and eight meaning a ten point advantage had been garnered by the end of the latter, there no way way back for the hosts as the Academy stretched their legs.

While it is hard to single anyone out special mention must go to Ben Whalley once again as the reserve was involved in three 5-1 maximums on his way to a paid 16 score.

This total matched by captain Dayle Wood who recorded a trio of heat wins also and with Jordy Loftus also taking the checkered flag three times the platform was there for a big win.

The hosts were once again excellently led by number one Ace Pijper who this time did record a maximum after missing out at the last on Friday night albeit the young Scotsman sitting out heat 15 in this one.

Beyond that there were further signs of promise from reserve pair Charlie Southwick and Harry Sadler while Jade Mudgway and Seth Norman were competitive throughout.

All in all though there was no answer to the Academy's strength as a big away win and perch atop the National Development League table was secured.
